About The Airline Gouge

About The Airline Gouge

Unearthing siloed military transition knowledge into one clear, centralized resource.

✈️ Mission Statement

THE AIRLINE GOUGE was founded by veteran military aviators to solve a persistent challenge: military pilots transitioning to civilian airline careers often face scattered, outdated, or confusing information regarding logbook conversion, FAA regulations, medical clearances, and airline hiring pathways.

Our mission is simple: Unearth the siloed information trapped in various online social media groups, forums, and private group chats—providing free, high-yield, accurate, and structured gouge with advanced notice to equip you with the knowledge needed to make your transition as smooth as possible across all service branches (Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps, Army, Coast Guard).

Hey there! I’m Chris "Data" Gullo, an active C-130J USAF aviator and self-proclaimed nerd who loves building systems and solving complex structural problems.

During my time in military aviation, I realized how much critical transition intelligence gets fragmented across temporary group chats, Facebook threads, and word-of-mouth conversations. I created The Airline Gouge to centralize, structure, and preserve that data—giving military pilots the advanced notice, clarity, and tools required to step into commercial aviation with confidence.

🦅 Who We Serve

Whether you are:

 • A fixed-wing fighter, bomber, transport, or reconnaissance pilot looking to optimize your 750-hour military R-ATP,
 • A rotary-wing (helicopter) aviator completing fixed-wing transitions,
 • A military flight instructor (IP) or evaluator (EP) calculating PIC time for AirlineApps, or
 • An active duty pilot preparing for DoD SkillBridge and Guard/Reserve Palace Front transitions,

The Airline Gouge provides clear, battle-tested guidance to take you from military flight operations to the commercial airline flight deck.

🤝 Community Contributed & Collaborative Effort

The aviation community thrives when we pay it forward. The Airline Gouge is not a static site—it is a live, collaborative effort continuously enriched by input from active military pilots, recent transition veterans, airline recruiters, and union representatives.

We deeply value your input to keep this resource ahead of the curve as hiring environments and application processes evolve.
